Imagine studying music from anywhere around the world

Welcome to the future

online music instruction

New technology has made it possible to communicate face-to-face with anyone anywhere. Dr. Shirley Meyer Blankenship, a pioneer in the field of musical teaching, plans to use this technology to benefit students everywhere with lessons via Skype, a free, web-based, real- time conferencing service.

Dr. Blankenship is an experienced teacher and performer. For many years, she performed violin in symphonies around the state of Illinois including the Quincy Symphony, Kankakee Symphony, Danville Symphony, Springfield Symphony and the Champaign-Urbana Symphony. She has taught violin at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois, Quincy College in Quincy, Illinois, Lindenwood Colleges in St. Charles, Missouri and at Olivet Nazareen University in Kankakee, Illinois. At Olivet, she performed with the Cantebury Trio as a violinist and violist. For the past 10 years, she has been teaching violin and viola at the University of Illinois in the Unit One Program. Her education culminated in a Doctorate of Musical Arts Degree in Music Composition from the University of Illinois.

Dr. Blankenship specializes in learning and memorization processes designed to facilitate the mastery of the material being studied. At the current time, she is focusing her attention on middle and high school students worldwide.

Dr. Blankenship is excited to announce that she is ready to accept online students
